In lead processing there requires a lot of expertise so that top quality lead can be obtained. Lead processing technology comprises of sintering, pyrometallurgical etc. Sintering plays a crucial role in the initial lead production stage or the lead production starts with sintering. In Sintering concentrated lead ore is fed into the sintering machinery with soda ash, silica, coke, zinc, iron, pyrite, limestone fluxes etc. Then comes the process of blasting this mixture with hot air so that sulfur can be burnt. To provide proper heat carbon is used in the blast furnace. In the smelting process there forms several layers in the blast furnace. The molten lead sinks to the bottom. Molten lead is called bullion when it is extracted from the blast furnace. It is then agitated in kettles for the cooling process which is 700 to 800 degrees Celsius. The final stage of lead processing technology is called Pyrometallurgical method to remove the non lead materials. Whatever is extracted as the non lead materials is further sold to other metal processing companies.
