Red Lead

Lead Tetroxide commonly known as red lead or Triplumbic Tetroxide, is a bright red or orange crystalline or amorphous pigment. Red lead is the key ingredient in making lead glass and red pigments. Since ancient times Red Lead is used as anti-corrosion applied to metal surfaces. Chemically, Red Lead is Lead tetra oxide, Pb3O4, a water-insoluble compound that is prepared by the oxidation of metallic Lead or of litharge (Lead monoxide). Red lead is applied as a base coat or prime coat for most of the largest bridges in the world. Red Lead also provides resistance to even salt water and so it is also applied to decks of ship.

Red Lead Supplier

Red Lead is used in batteries, lead glass, paints and act as primer to steel foundations. Red Lead is virtually insoluble in water and alcohol. However, it is soluble in hydrochloric acid present in stomach, therefore it is toxic when ingested. It dissolves in hydrochloric acid, glacial acetic acid, and diluted mixture of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide.

Chemically, Red lead is known as tetroxide, 2PbO.PbO2 or Pb3O4. Red Lead is used in rust proof paint, batteries and lead glass manufacturing industries. Bindal Metal & Minerals as a popular Lead exporter we are offering best quality Red Lead for various applications.
